This year's Slobberfest is dedicated to Bill Werksman...
William (Bill) Werksman passed away on Monday, May 6, 2013. Bill was devoted to his Bassets & helping D.B.H.R. find good homes for our fosters. We could always count on him to do our house checks for prospective adopters & his reports were always informative (and amusing). Bill an Susan have handled the registration table at Slobberfest for quite a few years. My memories of Bill with his quick sense of humor, will always bring a smile to my face. He would always stop me in my tracks with a quip as I'd walk by the table, then he'd roll his eyes at me when he noticed the blank look on my face. One time he did hand puppets to explain to me the joke... it was priceless! Bill was wonderful at making me laugh & bringing me back to the moment. His willingness to travel for D.B.H.R. to find good homes was a real blessing. Many of our Bassets have Bill & Susan to thank for getting loving forever home. We cannot thank him enough.
While I only saw the side of Bill that was involved in Basset rescue, I knew he was very active in so many other things... the Masons & Syria Shriners Motor Corp, Motorcycles and his family.
Bill was truly one of a kind. We will miss you Bill ...
Our thoughts & prayers are with Susan & his family.

Freddi's Memorial Fund can you help?
Update: Freddie passed away on 4-18-13. Freddie (shown in the photo doing a breathing treatment) after almost 5 months of doing well with Gayles dedication to caring for her, came down with a spiration pneumonia. We send our sincerest sympathy to Gayle & her family. Gayles devotion to Freddie, gave her 5 months of a good quality life, filled with love & joy. Few people would have done all that Gayle did for this sweet little girl. Gayle was a true Angel of compassion for Freddie, giving of her time with love & hope that Freddie would still have a good life.
The expenses for Freddies care came to over $10,000. We ask that if you can help with these expenses, it would be a great blessing to the family.

Freddi Mae was 9 month old little Basset, when she came to DBHR in 2008. She was adopted by a wonderful loving family. Now at 5 yrs old, she was diagnosed with a disease we had not dealt with before... "Mega esophagus" . Since this diagnosis, Gayle found the Support Group for Mega Dogs, which has helped A LOT with ideas and what is needed to do to keep 100% quality and happiness in Freddi-Mae’s life.
